At John’s Urban Timber, our wood jointing services bring precision and craftsmanship together to ensure every slab and project fits seamlessly. Whether you’re creating a wide tabletop, countertop, or unique piece of reclaimed furniture, we use proven joinery methods to create smooth, stable joints that last.
Every piece of wood we work with is reclaimed from local homeowners, tree services, or customer-supplied logs — never commercially harvested.
Our team flattens, planes, joins, and finishes all boards to your exact project requirements. Whether you’re having us join live-edge slabs into a dining table or create wide panels for custom installations, you can count on our consistency and attention to detail.
We don’t keep dimensional lumber in stock, but we’re happy to prepare it upon request for larger custom projects.

With three different size sawmills, John’s Urban Timber saws logs into unique slabs and then uses a vacuum kiln to properly and thoroughly dry the wood.
We turn reclaimed logs into live-edge slabs and boards, including single-piece slabs up to 42" wide, ready for custom projects.

Our vacuum kiln carefully dries each slab, ensuring stability, durability, and the perfect moisture content for woodworking.

Browse our wide selection of kiln-dried slabs and reclaimed boards, each piece full of natural character and unique grain.

Precision jointing up to 30" wide delivers flat, true surfaces that make glue-ups and fine woodworking seamless.

We offer expert planing services to create consistent thickness and smooth finishes on rough or reclaimed lumber.

With a wide-belt sander up to 42", we achieve flawless, polished surfaces that bring out the grain and beauty of the wood.
Where specialty is normal and unique is everything. My business is providing the services people need to recycle and reclaim wood into useful products, and I have been doing this since the fall of 1998.
Reach out with your project details — whether you’re building a dining table, countertop, or custom installation. Let us know your slab dimensions, desired layout, and finish style so we can prepare an accurate quote.
Your slabs are flattened, aligned, and expertly jointed right here in our Whitmore Lake workshop. Every seam is carefully clamped, glued, and sanded for perfect alignment, resulting in a smooth and stable finished panel.
Once the jointing process is complete, your wood is ready for finishing or installation. You can pick up the joined slabs or arrange delivery — either way, you’ll receive a piece built to last and crafted with care.
