Can I bring my own log to be milled?

Yes. Customer-supplied logs are a core part of what John's Urban Timber does. Send photos of the log along with its rough length and diameter, and John can tell you what it is likely to yield.

How big a log can you mill?

The shop mills logs up to approximately 60 inches in diameter. Very large logs need to be discussed in advance so access and handling can be planned.

At John's Urban Timber, we provide in-house saw milling services with one of four different sawmills. At our Whitmore Lake workshop, we transform locally reclaimed or customer-supplied logs into premium slabs, beams, and boards — never outsourcing a single step.

Your logs, your story — milled to perfection.

Every board begins with a reclaimed or personally harvested log, not commercially cut timber. We handle the entire process — from sawing and surfacing to stacking and drying — with precision and care. Most slabs are milled at 2½″–3″ thick and finished to a smooth 1⅞″–2½″ surface, ready for planing, sanding, or joinery.
