Wide single-slab bar top showcasing natural sapwood contrast, vacuum kiln stability, and a hand-rubbed finish.
Consecutive cuts from the same urban black walnut log, vacuum kiln dried and surfaced together for symmetrical grain matching.
What is vacuum kiln drying and why is it better?
Vacuum kiln drying removes moisture quickly and thoroughly under lower atmospheric pressure. Low-temperature drying reduces internal tension, splitting, and warping while preserving the wood's vibrant natural color.
How long does the milling and drying process take?
Drying time depends on species and thickness. In our vacuum kiln, most slabs achieve ideal moisture content (6% to 8%) in days to a few weeks, compared to many months in conventional air/heat drying.
